2021 - "REGISTOS"

"Registos" is an autobiographical experimental documentary where the director revisits homemade videos and tapes, memories of his childhood in a typical rural Portuguese family. Surrounded by love, tenderness, and catholic religion, he is silently self-questioning about his gender identity. Through those childhood tapes he uncovers his personal relationship with those memories, revealing what was like growing up in a body and identity where he didn’t recognize himself.

The film guides the spectator through an intimate and empathetic journey of understanding another person’s truth, without the need for words.

Produced independently within an academic context, the film had its national premiere in 2022 at the IndieLisboa Festival in the Novíssimos competition. In 2024, it was exhibited in a retrospective of the Portuguese Cinematheque, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Theatre and Film School. The program aimed to showcase the school’s most remarkable and representative films over the years. "Registos" continues to be shown at theaters, schools, and various other independent screenings.
